MEP David Martin’s speech on Thai labour rights and Andy’s case

The EU will soon launch negotiations with Thailand for a Free Trade Agreement. As the lead legislator on this issue for the Socialist and Democrat Group in the European Parliament David wants to see a strong commitment from Thailand to labour rights and migrant rights before a trade agreement is approved. At a meeting of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee, David asks if members of the Thai Parliament can look into the case of UK human rights defender Andy Hall who is facing criminal charges for exposing exploitation of Burmese workers in the Natural Fruit Company.
