February Finnwatch together with its partners in Decent work -programme decide to conduct a research on Finnish private label -products.
October Andy and Finnwatch agree on the contract for the field research. Research begins.
November Natural Fruit workers are interviewed in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
December Finnwatch sends notification of human rights violations in Natural Fruit to Thai ministries, trade unions, human rights organizations as well Finnish authorities.
January After a tip from Finnwatch an article by an independent journalist Hanna Nikkanen is publishes in a Finnish magazine Apu. Nikkanen has interviewed two former Natural Fruit workers who confirm Andy’s findings.
February Andy and Finnwatch recieve an information that Natural Fruit has filed a law suit against Andy (CASE 1 and 2).
April Andy’s first court hearing is held at the Bangkok South Criminal Court in Thailand (CASE 1). Andy wasn’t present at the hearing until today since he hadn’t recieved the charges officially. Finnwatch publishes a statement supporting Andy.
July Natural Fruit launches new criminal defamation case (CASE 3) against Andy at Bangna Police Station regarding an interview he gave to Aljazeera
September Andy attends Bangna Police Station, police purportedly try (CASE 3) to get Andy to sign a confession and he requests a copy and leaves, filing complaints against police conduct
May Andy attends voluntarily again at Bangna Police Station (CASE 3) to give a statement
June 18th Andy is formally charged with criminal defamation (CASE 3) by the Attorney General and at Prakanong Court, detained in a cell, bailed out by the Thai Frozen Foods Association (TFFA) and the Thai Tuna Industry Association (TTIA) and his passport is confiscated
July 2nd Prakanong Court negotiations between Natural Fruit and Andy Hall unsuccessful (CASE 3), court formally holds hearing on case and sets trial date for 2nd to 10th September 2014
September 2 to 10: criminal trial, Prakanong Court (CASE 3)
October 29: Verdict criminal trial, Prakanong Court. Court dismisses all charges against Andy Hall (CASE 3)
October 30: Negotiation 300 million baht civil defamation case Nakhon Pathom Court (CASE 2). Negotiation unsuccessful and court postpones ongoing consideration of the case until after verdict of criminal trial verdict
November 16: Initial hearing 100 million baht Aljazeera interview civil defamation case (CASE 4) Prakanong Court. Court postpones ongoing consideration of the case until March 2015
November 17: First of 7 preliminary hearings (continued Jan, Feb, March, April, May and July 2015) at Bangkok South Criminal Court into the Computer Crimes and Criminal Defamation Charges (CASE 1) relating to launch of Finnwatch Report
January: Attorney General and Natural Fruit appeal decision of Prakanong Court to dismiss criminal defamation (CASE 3) charges and appeal decision expected end of 2015 or beginning of 2016
March 23: Second hearing 100 million baht Aljazeera interview civil defamation case Prakanong Court (CASE 4). Court postpones ongoing consideration of the case until deliverance of official summons to November 2015
July 20: Last of 7 preliminary hearings (Nov 2014, Jan, Feb, March, April, May and July 2015) at Bangkok South Criminal Court into the Computer Crimes and Criminal Defamation Charges (CASE 1) relating to launch of Finnwatch Report. Decision on indictment laid down as Aug 24 2015
